Organisational structure

The Regulatory Decree no. 36/2012, of 27 March, defined the mission, duties and the type of internal organization of the Directorate General of Social Security.

In the development of that regulatory decree, Ordinance No. 105/2013 of 13 March 2013 determined the nuclear structure of the services and established the maximum number of flexible units and the powers of the respective organic units.

The organic units are managed by service directors, who are intermediate directors of the first degree.

The DGSS is headed by a Director General, assisted by a deputy Director General, who is responsible for directing and guiding the action of the DGSS organs and services, under the terms of the competencies conferred by law or that are delegated or sub-delegated to them.
